Common Rules in Bingo Halls
Bingo halls are as varied as poker rooms. Each one operates differently from others. Some bingo halls have rules not applied in other bingo halls. Because of this, players are highly advised to find out for themselves the rules in place for the particular bingo hall they're playing in.
Most bingo halls have their rules posted in several easily noticed areas. If in doubt or if there are no posted rules in place, asking any bingo hall staff is the next best thing to do.
Tampering and altering of bingo cards are a definite no-no. It's never worth it, and almost anyone wouldn't fall for that kind of falsification -- specially the staff of any bingo hall. Anyone caught cheating will most likely be prosecuted.
Other common rules applied in most bingo halls can be found below.
An age requirement is often in place in most bingo halls. Only those whose age is 18 years or above are allowed to play. However, almost anyone can enter the premises of bingo halls. Reservation of specific cards may or may not be allowed. Again, this varies from one bingo hall to the next.
Alcoholic beverages may be prohibited in some bingo halls, while others would even sell beer and other forms of refreshments to their patrons. Bringing food and drinks from the outside are mostly not advisable as bingo halls would want their patrons to buy from their own establishment.
Most of the time, the friends or relatives of the players are prohibited from watching, or sitting next to the players. Some bingo halls require everyone seated at the bingo tables to have their own buy in. An attendance ticket is even required for seated players in some instances. This ticket should always be in plain view while in play.
Players may often be prohibited from freely entering and exiting the bingo hall while a special high stakes game is being played.
One important note that should always be kept in mind is that bingo claims are only allowed with the most recent number called. Other than that and the bingo claim will become invalid.
Last but not least is to always bring a photo ID when playing bingo, especially for high stake games. Big jackpots will often require the winning player to produce a valid personal ID. For some really large jackpots, a Social Security card may even be required also.
Keeping these rules in mind and knowing if they're applicable to the bingo hall you're playing in will save the player from some unwanted and potentially embarrassing moments.
